England Routed for 194 Chasing 320 in Semi-Final Drubbing

England were routed for 194 in a semi-final drubbing by South Africa, falling 125 runs short of a mammoth 320-run target. The loss ends their World Cup campaign, while South Africa advance to their first-ever 50-over final, thanks to heroic displays from Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp.
The tone for England’s failed chase was set in the opening overs. Marizanne Kapp delivered a stunning double-wicket maiden, removing Amy Jones and Heather Knight for ducks. England slumped to one for three, with their top three all failing to score.
Kapp, the “queen of seam,” was relentless, returning to finish with five for 20 and becoming the tournament’s all-time leading wicket-taker. She broke a 107-run fourth-wicket partnership just as England found a flicker of hope.
That hope was already dim, thanks to Laura Wolvaardt’s sensational innings of 169. The South African captain single-handedly took the game away from England, who had been in a decent position at 202 for six.
Wolvaardt then unleashed a 28-ball, 69-run assault, taking 20 runs from one over and pushing the total to 319 for seven. Despite Sophie Ecclestone’s four wickets, England’s death bowling was exposed, and their batters subsequently crumbled.
