This agreement was reached during discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29, where they explored avenues for bolstering bilateral ties and future collaboration.
President Tokayev highlighted the significance of Germany as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, noting the progress achieved in their relations over the past 30 years. A key proposal from Tokayev during the visit was the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This platform aims to support joint projects and facilitate investment flows between the two nations.
Further discussions involved Tokayev meeting with German business leaders to explore cooperation in various sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. The talks also covered initiatives such as the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, modernization of railway infrastructure, and enhancement of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan.
Moreover, the two countries are investigating opportunities for German companies to engage in industrial and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
